Last week I arrived in the winter wonderland of Banff & Lake Louise in Canada. I’ve never been surrounded by so much white! Everything was so picturesque – the mountains, snow-covered trees and the beautiful Fairmont properties we stayed at.
For four days, I enjoyed the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and the Fairmont Banff Springs with four other bloggers (Brittany, Jill, Nathalie, and Stephanie) and my husband, Tyler. It was so fun partnering with Roots Canada and wearing all their cute clothing during the trip, not to mention, they kept me from freezing! I definitely didn’t have the wardrobe for freezing temperatures and was so grateful for how warm the socks, mittens and sweaters kept me throughout the trip. This was my first trip to the Canadian Rockies and we did so many unforgettable activities.
The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is best known for their beautiful lake! During the winter it’s an ice-skating rink and a magical spot to glide in between the mountains. We took a horse carriage around the property the first day and sipped on hot chocolate as we were all in awe of our surroundings. We also enjoyed campfires, the ski resort, a fancy fondue dinner and drinks on-site at their ice bar. Yes – a bar with a bartender and cocktails… all made of ice! It was beautiful. Our last excursion here was dogsledding. We learned a lot about the dogs and I honestly couldn’t believe how excited they were to pull us through the snow. We could barely hear one another talk over their barking as we loaded into our sleds… and with every pit-stop we made, they would look back at us while jumping up and down until they could run again. Tyler and I really enjoyed the whole experience of the ride and interacting with the dogs.
The Fairmont Banff Springs is the castle photographed just below. There was definitely a special atmosphere staying in such a beautiful estate. Every corner was decorated for Christmas, getting us in the holiday cheer. While in Banff Springs we took a trip snowshoeing (the coldest I’ve ever been in my life – but totally worth the view!) The hotel is also known for their beautiful spa and the cute town of Banff Springs.
Throughout our entire stay, many of the hotel employees and other guests were talking about how incredible the hotels were during summer as well. I couldn’t recommend a winter experience more… but I think I’ll also have to check it out in the summer!
