A denim trend I’m loving right now is high-rise straight jeans with a slight crop above the ankle. A few of my favorite brands have been embracing this trend, and among my favorite are M.i.h and Citizens of Humanity. I think what I like about it the most is that it’s a vintage fit that communicates an effortless vibe. There’s a difference to me between being minimal and being intentionally uncomplicated, and I believe the second simply takes a little more effort and planning. But the intentionality is what goes a long way, and ultimately, it’s what achieves that “effortless vibe”.
Intentionally uncomplicated style has moved its way into other areas of our lives too, like retail! I’ve been spending a lot of time over in the Silverlake neighborhood lately (where I took these photos). A couple of my favorite spots are the shopping area on Sunset Blvd and Micheltorena St. This strip has more than a few great shops that do intentionality well: Clare V, Alfred Coffee, A.P.C., Shinola and Aesop. I also love Pine & Crane for some amazing food, and two places I’ve been wanting to take some dance classes are at the Pop Physique and The Sweat Spot. Plenty of gems!
