I love any excuse to dress up and this year I had two amazing parties I went to that had fun themes! Friday night was Voodoo Swamps of New Orleans and Saturday was a Casablanca inspired party. It was the perfect excuse to go all out and be inspired by two very different looks! I almost think it was easier to figure out what to be for Halloween because of these parties – it’s tough when the options are endless!
For the Voodoo party, I decided to be a gypsy after looking through Pinterest. Because I starting planning only 3-4 days before the parties, I actually found just about everything for my costumes on Amazon – crazy! They literally have everything. The only piece I used from my closet were these new (amazing) black crocodile skin boots from Sigerson Morrison. The headpiece was one of my favorite parts of the costume, it really pulled the whole look together and it was something I borrowed from my friend Valerie, who also did my hair and makeup both nights. The party was so fun, it was at a friend’s house that was completely decked out. She completely transformed her place and even had fog machines going so it did actually feel very swamp-like. I danced the night away!
Saturday night was the Casablanca party and I knew I wanted to do an Old Hollywood look. I found this AMAZING powder blue robe with fur lining. The robe was vintage and I knew it would be perfect for the costume. It went well with my “vintage” accessories-pearls, diamond brooches and pearl earrings. I found a simple white slip dress to wear underneath and a pair of white kitten heels. Valerie completed the look by adding classic waves, pinning it up in the back for a shorter style and deep, red lipstick.
When it comes to Halloween costumes, it is all in the details that really make a costume go a long way.
