Hello 2017! I can’t believe it’s already here and time to look back on all of the highlights from the past year. I always love starting off a new year fresh, reflecting on the past year and thinking of ways to challenge myself for the next. This year has been full of a lot of growth for me personally and for Take Aim. Making resolutions for the New Year is one of my favorite things to do. It inspires me to put on paper the kind of person that I want to be and what I want to accomplish. I don’t always take the time to reflect in this way so it’s always eye-opening to map out the daily decisions I want to be making to become the person I want to be.
This year I celebrated so many milestones for Take Aim, including 100k and 200k followers on Instagram. It’s been so exciting to be a part of new opportunities and be able to share my life with you guys. I am so grateful. I have a lot of new things planned for 2017 and can’t wait to share more, but for now I’ll tell you that I have a brand new website design coming in the next couple months and plans for lots of travel and some cool ways to get involved. It’s my goal this year is to make Take Aim more of a community and I hope you guys will be a part of it!
I also turned 30 this year (what!), so I’ve been thinking a lot about milestones in my own life and where I want to be in the next few years. It’s been quite a challenge, in 2016 especially, learning to take on every possible “adult” responsibility out there. I have had some highs and lows but there’s no doubt that the challenges have made me a stronger person. Some of my personal goals this year are to live more in the moment… to not let the administrative and menial tasks take away from the special moments with others. I want to be more organized and focused, but learn to let go when life is happening. I want to get back into my daily yoga routine because it’s one of the exercises that makes my body feel the best and is a great stress reliever at the same time. I also just got a new keyboard and am picking up my childhood hobby of playing the piano. I just started an online course today and so excited!
My style has developed and changed a little bit this past year. I still have my favorite go-to basics, but I’ve started straying from some of my minimalist looks at the beginning of the year and adding in more patterns and colors. I love seeing how trends and my preferences change and stay the same over time, so I had a fun time looking back on some of my favorite outfits from this year:
I did so so much traveling this year. I think there was a stretch where I was only home for about three days in a six week period. I feel so blessed (sorry for the cheese, but it’s true!) to be able to travel and explore new places all of the time. I went to New York several times and had the chance to go to my first Paris Fashion Week! Other favorites were Cabo San Lucas, Geneva, Coachella, and a mini staycation in Palm Springs. Here are some of my favorite photos of the year:
I feel like I’ve been hearing so many people say that 2016 was an amazing year but a hard year. I feel exactly that way. I have never been so challenged emotionally and mentally but I look back and see so so much good. The year feels like a triumph of sorts – where I came out at the end of it feeling like I ran a marathon but only have hope and excitement for the coming year.
I’d love to hear what your resolutions are and how 2016 was for you! Also, any feedback you have for me is greatly welcomed : ) I’m always trying to think of creative and engaging ways to share and I’d love to hear what your favorite posts/places/outfits were.
