I’ve been loving all this vintage inspo lately for clothes and beauty and even home decor. One of my very favorite waves to go vintage is with some old Hollywood classic waves! I’ve been wanting to learn the look better and make a tutorial, so when I got this new Instyler curling iron it seemed like the perfect opportunity to try it out while showing you some of the features of the curling iron. The barrel is the perfect size for the classic Hollywood look and it actually has a built in heat protectant, which is awesome! Here’s my quick video tutorial and all the steps are below:
Step #1: Hold the curling iron horizontal and then start at the roots. Wrap the hair over the barrel and keep wrapping all the way through the end of your hair. Make sure to curl everything in the same direction and always keep the iron horizontal! (It’s amazing how much that one little trick matters!)
Option: A cool thing about this wand is that it has a silicon tip to tuck your hair in. If you’re intimidated by the wand technique and want to avoid burning yourself, you can just tuck it in the end and and curl from the bottom up without having to touch the barrel at all. Pretty cool!
Step #2: Made a deep side part after curling evenly on both sides. This just makes it look a little more vintage. You can just use your finger to make a straight line back and then flip your hair over to the side. Super easy.
Step #3: Brush brush brush! Brush eeevverything out. You really can’t brush too much because this will turn the curls into big, even waves. They should sort of line up and look like 2-3 rows of waves (depending on how long your hair is).
Step #4: Add a little texture spray! I always finish off with texture spray because it helps maintain the volume and prevents it from coming undone throughout the day (but a little lighter than hairspray).
Step #5: Tuck one side behind your ear and finish with a cute clip :)
