One of the hairstyles I saw in so many shows at NYFW and throughout Fashion Month was a wrapped, low ponytail right at the back of the neck. It’s such a pretty style and so easy to do for every day life too! I have wanted to try some new hairstyles this year and put up a couple of tutorials, so it was actually perfect timing when I got the chance to work with TRESemmé on a tutorial using their products which have been used by professionals at NYFW for years.
I made sure to pack my TRESemmé hairspray on this trip because I typically use their hairspray for my daily messy waves — I think it’s one of the longest-holding hairsprays I have used, so it’s become a go-to over the years. Especially during Fashion Month, I’m usually doing my hair in the morning and then I’m gone all day, so I really want quality hairspray that will hold for a full day of events. For the low ponytail style, though, the hairspray is even more essential since it’s more of a smooth look where you really want everything to stay in place.
I also wanted to try the Repair & Protect 7 Shampoo and Conditioner because the fact that I use heat on my hair every day (and I’ve colored it a lot) means priming it is pretty important to avoid split ends and dry hair. The Repair & Protect 7 Shampoo and Conditioner got its name because it’s able to visibly repair 7 different types of damage in one wash: brushing, blow-drying, bleaching, coloring, curling, flat-ironing and bleaching.
I really liked how the ponytail turned out (may have to do it again soon!) and the products smell amazing!
If you’re looking for professional-level hair products, the TRESemmé products are actually having a great sale right now at Walgreens: 2 for $8 or 2 for $10 on participating products between now and March 4th (can you believe that’s next week?!) and you also get $2 register reward at checkout. Visit this site for more information and to shop this deal on TRESemmé products!
I put together a step-by-step tutorial for this style below, inspired by Jonathan Simkhai’s TRESemmé style called “The Regal Pony.” Keep scrolling if you want to try a wrapped low ponytail too :)

Start by washing hair with TRESemmé Repair & Protect 7 Shampoo and Conditioner to repair any damage your hair may have from past styling.

Prime hair with 5-7 pumps of the TRESemmé Repair & Protect 7 Pre-Styling Spray to maximize styling results.

Blow dry your hair and create a clean, center part. I also like to backcomb a couple of layers near my part for a little more volume.

Gather your hair into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck.

Curl the ponytail (I used a 1.25 inch curling iron). If your hair isn’t super long or if it’s a little thicker, it might be easier to curl your hair before putting it in a ponytail.

Wrap a piece of hair (you can decide how wide) around the ponytail and secure it with a bobby pin.

Brush through the curls with your fingers to loosen them up, and finish the look with some TRESemmé Two Extra Firm Hold Hairspray. I feel like having that final coverage with hairspray always does the trick to finish it off looking good! Personally, I like to pull out a couple pieces after that for a less polished look, but if you are looking for a super smooth style, you can skip that step and use a toothbrush to pat down any remaining flyaways. Voila!

Thanks to TRESemmé for partnering with me on this post!
