Wool Coat + Camo

Hello Saturday! I had an amazing time yesterday attending a Lucky Magazine conference for fashion and beauty bloggers.  There were some awesome speakers and I learned a ton.  Here are some of the highlights and links to the Instagram accounts for all these women totally worth following:

Eva Chen – fun, down-to-earth, editor of Lucky Magazine.  She hosted the event and most of the Q+A sessions and I totally fell in love with her personality.

Sophia Amoruso of NASTY GAL – an honor to hear from her about starting and maintaining a business, and she’s even cooler in person. I’m excited to read her book that’s coming out soon called GIRLBOSS, which you can still pre-order. I think she has a lot of good things to say about having a dream and taking aim.  I look up to her : )

Nicole Richie – loved hearing from her because she is a jewelry designer as well.  One of the best things she talked about was not expecting perfection from ourselves.  It’s ok to set your dreams and goals very high, and try to do a lot of things, but don’t hold yourself to the standard of perfection.  We can only do what we can do.  That was so encouraging to me because I do want to have my business, my blog, a career and kids some day. I DO want it all, and I can have it – but I will lack the joy within it all if I don’t accept my limits and give myself grace when I can’t be perfect.

Coco Rocha – I haven’t had many experiences hanging out with supermodels but she totally blew my expectations out of the water.  Not only was she witty and hilarious, she had such a respect for women in the industry.  She gave the good advice to not take ourselves too seriously and be able to just enjoy what we’re doing.  I also admire her so much for her work of trying to change some of the laws regarding women in the modeling industry that have allowed them to be mistreated with sexual harassment, unfair pay and underage employment rights.

I was also able to hear from some very successful bloggers that gave us a lot of insight into the industry: Song of Style, Lust for Life, Peace Love Shea, and Chriselle Factor.

I was a great experience!

In this outfit I was really loving the blue camo with the red boots – and the oversize wool coat adds such cool effect.  Wish I had more opportunities to wear it, but then again, I’d probably be wishing it wasn’t so cold : )
